It has been rumored that developer Bungie is planning something new to increase the number of players for its sci-fi shooter "Destiny." Now, the rumors have been proven true, as the developer confirms that there will be a refer-a-friend program for the shooter title.

Meanwhile, although Bungie has kept what players may gain from the program under wraps, leaked images and information surface online, letting players in on what could await them when they refer their friends to try the first-person shooter game.

According to Cinema Blend, a "Destiny" player managed to capture some mysterious in-game items that have appeared in the player's inventory. According to the website, the items will apparently be the rewards that await players who have successfully invited colleagues to be Guardians.

The different items were collated on Reddit, and rewards may include the EV-34 Vector Infinite Sparrow and a new emblem.

Meanwhile, Playstation LifeStyle added that part of the rewards items are additional emotes like the High Five and Duo Dance, as well as an Infinite Link Shader. In addition, the refer-a-friend program by Bungie will also reward players with an in-game mission expansion. A successful player conversion will apparently unlock a new quest for Guardians, titled "A Tale of Two Guardians." Supposedly, the missions involved in the quest line can only be accomplished together with the linked friend.

However, these details remain unconfirmed, as Bungie has not announced any confirmed details yet about the program.

Aside from the refer-a-friend program rolling out, Bungie has also introduced a new major patch for "Destiny." Update 2.0.2 is now live across platforms, bringing with it major improvements and fixes to the game, as well as introducing a host of other changes like system and interface tweaks and new items, gear and weapons.
