'Destiny' The Taken King updates releasing from winter to spring 2016

Bungie

In the latest Bungie Weekly Update, senior community manager Eric "Urk" Osborne made a very vague announcement that confirmed there were updates coming to the popular shooter "Destiny." Following the launch of The Taken King DLC, Osborne confirmed that Bungie is planning on releasing new content at a faster rate.

Not only is the studio working to bring new content without forcing the players to wait months in between each update, Osborne also stated that players should be looking forward to new content by the end of this year and toward Spring 2016.

While he did not divulge in detail what kind of content Bungie is planning, he did confirm that there are at least three major updates on the way. The first is said to be on the scale of the Festival of the Los" update while the second is touted to be the biggest update to the game ever since the release of The Taken King DLC.

Osborne was even more ambiguous in regard to Bungie's ongoing plans for the third major update.

"There's also another significant update to the world and sandbox planned in this same window. We've already talked about having a sandbox update each quarter, but there's more on the way, too. Please give us some time to sort the details, and lock down the fun stuff to come."

Unfortunately, this could mean anything, from a large DLC pack to several small patches and updates. It is also noted that not all of the changes and updates will be announced, particularly the smaller patches that only give incremental changes to the game.

Most recently the microtransaction system in "Destiny" has seen a mild update that now allows players to buy their way to a higher level and the system has now expanded to sell items and other mechanics related to the new Sparrow Racing League.
