'Destiny' patch 1.1.2 details: item lock, special ammo to appear less

"Destiny" is quite different now from how it was when it was initially launched. Its evolution is primarily due to the updates that developer Bungie constantly rolls out, along with the patches to fix issues and re-balance the gameplay. Now, another update is on its way, and Bungie's weekly blog details what fans of the game can expect with the upcoming patch 1.1.2.

One of the main things that the update will add is the ability to lock items. According to the official Bungie blog, a lot of players accidentally delete Legendary and Exotic items, especially with kids and pets around. With the patch, a player just needs to highlight the item and click down with the right thumb-stick to item-lock it.

Item Locking is just one small addition for players. The developer will also make it possible for gamers to wear their helmets while running around in the Tower social area. The option to enable this will be moved to the Settings menu.

"We all agreed that it's important to give players every opportunity to show off the cool gear they've earned. It turned out to be a fairly quick UI task to turn helmets on in the Tower," stated Bungie artist Andrew Davis.

The Crucible multiplayer mode will also see some changes, particularly with regard to Heavy Ammo. Players can no longer wait around and buffer their supply because Heavy Ammo drops will suddenly despawn when they haven't been picked up after some time. Special Ammo will also appear less frequently. Picking up Special Ammo will take more time and maps will now contain fewer crates. Bricks will contain fewer ammo as well. These changes will help balance out the multiplayer matches.

Designer Kevin Yanes stated, "We wanted players to really think about how and when they should use their ammo. The hope is that you'll ask yourself questions like: 'Is this snipe worth it right now?' 'Should I really shotgun rush these players?' 'Should I conserve ammo until the next crate?'"

No official release date for 1.1.2 has been posted, but Bungie has announced it will be available "very soon."
