The Detroit Pistons are on a 2-0 start this 2015-16 regular season but will have to continue their campaign without veteran shooter Jodie Meeks who suffered a Jones fracture in Wednesday's 92-87 win over the Utah Jazz.

Meeks left in the second quarter and never returned with Pistons head coach and president Stan Van Gundy confirming the injury.

"We'll get further assessment and know better on a timetable in the next couple of days. But they, they X-rayed him, he's got a Jones fracture," Van Gundy said according to Mlive.com.

Van Gundy also expressed his dismay on what happened to the 28-year-old reserve shooting guard.

"You feel bad for the guy. Last year, it's the first exhibition game. He plays one exhibition game and he goes out. And now he comes back in great shape, came off a really good last preseason game, and gets a fracture tonight. He's sort of snakebit right now and I feel for him," he stated.

Meeks' injury is the same with what Oklahoma City Thunder star forward Kevin Durant suffered before the start of last season.

The injury limited Durant to only 27 regular season games in the 2014-15 season as he had to go through multiple surgeries before it was fully repaired.

Last season, Meeks played in 60 regular season games and was an efficient contributor off the bench averaging 11.1 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and one steal per contest.

Playing in both their games this season, the former Kentucky Wildcat averaged one point and one rebound in 8.5 minutes of action per outing.

Before playing for Detroit, Meeks also had stints with the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers where he played his best basketball in his career.

Following their win over Utah, the Pistons will continue their home stand when they play against expected Eastern Conference contenders Chicago Bulls on Friday, and the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday.
