Detroit Pistons trade and roster rumors 2016: Brandon Jennings says team has no leader

Brandon Jennings continues to work his way back to form, but it seems he is not the only one who needs improving.

After the Pistons lost to the New Orleans Pelicans (115–99), the returning guard was, apparently, dismayed. This led him to call out his teammates, although it seems only two were the target of his rant.

Jennings says the team needs a leader, citing that all the team does is talk but does not really execute what they have to do. There are suggestions thrown left and right but at the end of it all, there must be some players who are willing to step up and take the lead whether the team likes it or not.

Although it was not mentioned, Jennings seemed to be insinuating two players on the team — Andre Drummond and Reggie Jackson. The two are obviously the players who are supposedly leading the team, but somehow they have not panned up.

What if Jennings takes the lead? Aside from the fact that he is coming off an injury, the explosive guard admits he is still feeling his actual role right now which is coming off the bench.

As a whole, it seems that character and chemistry issues are two of the things that the Pistons need to address. The talent is there, but the drive and effort to be a better team is simply lacking.

The good news is that the Pistons aren't exactly one of the teams whose season is slipping away. At 23–22, they are still within striking distance of a playoff spot in a highly competitive Eastern conference.

There is still time for the Pistons to align themselves and improve. But all that can only start once the team's star players decide to come out of their shell and start taking the role of leaders for the Pistons.
