'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' news: More play styles for boss combats

Game companies Eidos Montreal and Square Enix decided to be extra generous to "Deus Ex" players by being more lenient in the boss battles in the sequel titled "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided."

Many players of the critically acclaimed "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" were reportedly not pleased with the limited play style options that they could use during the boss fights of the game. But in "Mankind Divided," more play styles will be included so players can easily deal with the boss encounters.

According to gameplay director Patrick Fortier, they recognized that support for the different play styles was missing in the first installment of "Deus Ex," which is why they made sure that they will not make the same mistakes again this time.

"[In Mankind Divided] there are ways to stealth them, there are ways to beat them in combat and there are conversations you can have that maybe give you a different means of dealing with the situation altogether," Fortier said.

"Deus Ex's" narrative director Mary DeMarle also added that players can decide to do the play styles lethally if they want to.

"For Human Revolution, because of the way we designed it, [the bosses] always died in the cutscenes. You had no choice. But we rectified that in the 'Missing Link' DLC, and we've rectified it in this game," DeMarle shared.

However, the details about the game style options for "Mankind Divided" were not discussed by the game developers.

The plot for "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" happens two years after the events in "Human Revolution." This time, the humans have stronger opposition against the mechanically augmented beings after the Panchaea Incident happened in the previous game. Adam Jensen returns to work with an international organization to control the rising number of incidents of terrorism acts.

A 25-minute gameplay trailer was released by Square Enix at the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015, which showcased the upcoming game's full mission plan.
