A big mystery exploded at the end of "Devious Maids" season 4, but the fate of the show remains uncertain as Lifetime continues its silence about the series' renewal for season 5.

After the previous season ended on Aug. 8, fans of the series began to wait to hear news on a fifth season of the mystery comedy-drama series. But if the network will be consistent with its renewal tradition, Lifetime might drop the announcement sometime in late September.

While Lifetime remains mum about the series renewal, executive producer Sabrina Wind hinted at the possible plot for "Devious Maids" season 5. In an interview with TVLine, Wind revealed that fans will see Daniella (Sol Mercado) slowly warming up to her mother, Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez). Dani might also be introduced to her biological father in the upcoming season.

"I'm hoping the character is this incredibly hot, wonderful man who's going to come back into Carmen's life and challenge where she is and what she's about," Wind said.

The finale of season 4 also hinted that something happened between Zoila (Judy Reyes) and Adrian (Tom Irwin) based on the glances that they exchanged during Marisol's (Ana Ortiz) supposed wedding.

"There are definitely chances that things have happened. ... She's [Zoila] the kind of person who can call somebody on their s–t and he's the kind of person who's totally full of s–t, so we think they're just a fun combination. They might not be as fated as Evelyn and Adrian, but there's definitely something they have found in each other that only the other one can see."

But the main mystery that could be revealed in the fifth season of "Devious Maids" could be about the mysterious disappearance of Marisol, after she suddenly went missing during her wedding day.
