Blizzard Entertainment is currently in the middle of development of a brand-new "Diablo" game, potentially "Diablo IV." Evidence surfaced when the company's official website posted a job hiring listing for a new game director for an unnannounced project set within the "Diablo" franchise. Given the series has no spin-offs, it is likely "Diablo IV."

The listing calls for a director who can lead the series into the future, indicating the developers are aiming to start working on a brand-new entry in the series. However, as stated in a report from Polygon, it is still undetermined if this is true and it could still be possible that the developers are instead working on a new "Diablo 3" expansion pack.

As state by the report, the newly hired director will be taking over Josh Mosqueira, the current director of "Diablo III." Mosquiera joined Blizzard back in 2011 and was elected as the franchise's director when Jay Wilson departed in 2013. Wilson, on the other hand, had been working for the company for a decade.

It is further confirmed that Mosqueira had officially stepped down as the series' director and is no longer employed with Blizzard.

"With 'Diablo III' in a good place at this point, Josh felt that now was a good time to pursue other opportunities with minimal impact to the team," Blizzard explained in an email. "We'll be filling the director role either from within Blizzard or externally."

"Diablo III" initially launched for PC and Mac back in 2012 and an expansion DLC, titled "Reaper of Souls," was released in 2014. During the same year a console port was released and this version was playable offline, unlike the PC version, which constantly required the player to be connected to Blizzard's servers.

It is undetermined if "Diablo IV" will have the same PC requirements and the game currently has no set release date.
