The competitive world of gaming is very fickle, thus developers need to be aware of the game's reception before it is sent into oblivion. Almost all games have their fair share of Day-One woes, and Bethesda Softworks is no stranger to this situation. They have, however, taken things under control.

During the launch of the much-awaited first-person stealth sequel "Dishonored 2," a lot of PC gamers have experienced performance issues, most especially on the smoothness of screen transitions and frame rates. Some of the disappointed players took to Twitter to air their sarcastic comments. However, Arkane Studio's co-creative director Harvey Smith responded and assured that they are investigating the matter.

Bethesda released the 1.1 patch for PC around a week after, which some feel isn't quite enough, but it was able to fix the mouse controls. The latest patch, however, proves to be a successful stab at making adjustments to the game to satisfy enraged PC players.

The details of the major 1.2 patch are detailed on the Bethesda website. They first encouraged players to update to NVIDIA driver 375.95 as previous versions had a huge impact on the game's performance in PC.

The biggest fix done by the patch is in terms of the frame rate, visual settings, and unexpected crashes. With regards to performance, it has resolved issues with framerate stuttering, fixed a bug in sudden framerate drops, and removed fog quality settings to focus more on the gameplay itself. It has also made fixes to the controls using the mouse and gamepad for better efficiency.

Despite the many issues PC gamers faced with the launch of "Dishonored 2," Kotaku praised the developers for listening attentively to the fans and acting quickly to resolve the issues. There are still some improvements needed, but with Arkane's dedication, there is hope to making it a greater game than it is.

"Dishonored 2" has received rave reviews from various publications, with Digital Spy mentioning that although the story is something that has been done before, the carefully-crafted gameplay is second to none.
