'Dissidia Final Fantasy NT' update 2018: Day one patch to address common beta complaints

Square Enix has confirmed that "Dissidia Final Fantasy NT" will be getting an update on Jan. 30 that coincides with the North American and European release of the game. This patch will mainly address several of the key issues that players reported during the open beta that took place a few weeks ago.

This update was tweeted out by the official Japanese Twitter account for the game and was then translated by Gematsu.

As small as it might seem from an outsider's perspective, the biggest change that comes with the update will be the ability to remap the jump button between Circle and X. In the beta, jump was locked on the Circle button which was a big issue for players outside of Japan since, for most games, jump is mapped to the X button.

Another big change is the rewards players will get upon completing matches. The update will increase the amount of Gil given out for clearing fights. Likewise, it will enable Gil to drop when playing Room Matches. For those who are not familiar, Gil is the in-game currency used to purchase various cosmetic items such as avatar icons and soundtracks.

Some other additions in the patch include the ability to swap around the L1 / R1 and L2 / R2 buttons, further adding more player customization for how to play the game. Some improvement to the online gaming was also added. Players that disconnect before a match begins will receive no penalty, which is fair for those with more unstable connections.

"Final Fantasy Dissidia NT" is the third entry in the "Dissidia" franchise. This series sees heroes and villains from the "Final Fantasy" series facing off in an open arena brawl. The game first came out to Japanese arcades in 2015 before receiving a PlayStation 4 port this year. The port came out in Japan last Jan. 11 and it is expected to launch worldwide on Jan. 30.
