World War (WW) II-themed games seem to be having a resurgence in popularity as seen in the recent rise of first-person shooters (FPS) and real-time strategies (RTS). "Divided We Fall," a WWII RTS, recently graduated its Early Access status on Steam and is now a full release.

Developer and publisher KAVA Game Studio has released "Divided We Fall" as a full game today, Oct. 4. The game is a strategic close-combat multiplayer game that puts priorities over squad building and battlefield tactics instead of building bases and overarching strategy.

Instead of leading a large army, players will get to be the commander of four soldiers in a squad. They can then choose to participate in either player-versus-player (PVP) or cooperative battles. These fights can range from quick one-on-one skirmishes to large-scale 15-on-15 battles with a total of up to 120 soldiers fighting on the battlefield. There will also be player clans, each with their own ranking systems, leaderboard, and competitions. Clans will also be able to compete against other clans.

As a celebration of the game's full release, the developers have also made the game available for free on Steam. Players with Steam accounts will be able to download the game and try it free of charge until Thursday. Afterward, they will have to pay the full game price of $12.99 to continue playing the multiplayer RTS.

Despite this gesture, "Divided We Fall" is currently not well received on Steam with a "Mixed" review score consisting of only 61 percent positive reviews. Some of the players who gave the game a bad score complained that the bugs and glitches have allegedly made it one of the most unpolished games they have ever played. While the game has a great concept, some players still clamor for an offline single-player campaign.

"Divided We Fall" is now available on for Microsoft Windows and is free to play on Steam until Thursday, Oct. 5.
