'Doctor Who' season 8 episode 3: The Doctor meets Robin Hood

The Season 8 of "Doctor Who" opened in dark fashion, but episode 3 "Robot of Sherwood" is on a more lighter note. The episode is written by Mark Gatiss and here, the Doctor and Clara go back to the 12th century and meets Robin Hood in Nottingham.

"Robot of Sherwood" features two guest stars. There's Tom Riley, who will play Robin Hood and Ben Miller as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

According to Metro, Robin Hood is the "eleventh major historical figure to appear" in the show since 2005. Just to name some, there's Queen Victoria, Nefertiti, Elizabeth I, Winston Churchhill, Adolf Hitler, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, William Shakespeare, Madame de Pompadour and Vincent Van Gogh. And it can't be left out that there are nods to the old doctors too, like the First, Second and Third doctors as well as their adventures.

Moving on, "Robot of Sherwood" is an episode that not everyone will like, especially the serious fans out there. As mentioned, this is a lighter episode and it should show that the entire season isn't as grim as everyone would expect (while it mostly is).

The trailer for Season 8 Episode 3 "Robot of Sherwood" is now out and there are certain things to watch out for in this episode. For one, the 12th Doctor refers to some of the historical characters he met during his First and Second incarnations. The Doctor also showed proficiency in using a weird weapon.

During this time, damsels in distress are a thing, but Clara proves she isn't one of them. She shows a handy skill that could save her life. Then there's the Doctor always comparing humans to desserts.

And obviously, there will be a lot of Robin Hood fun in the episode, things that everyone would find memorable in the classic tales of Robin Hood.
