Since last month, there have been rumors that Rachel McAdams is being considered to star in "Doctor Strange," with the film said to be almost done assembling its cast. Now, McAdams herself has confirmed that she will be in the upcoming Marvel film. 

Speaking to The Wrap in an interview at the Toronto Film Festival, she said, "I'm gonna go do 'Doctor Strange,' a kind of a Marvel — kind of a psychedelic Marvel comic, so yeah." 

The "Mean Girls" star added that she is looking forward to working with Benedict Cumberbatch, who will play the titular hero in the movie.

"Cumberbatch, yeah!" she enthused. But when asked about her role, the actress declined to give more information, saying, "I don't know if I can [talk about it]." 

While the 36-year-old actress is keeping mum about her role in the film, Cinemablend has a few theories as to which character she will be playing. The website speculates that McAdams could play Clea, who is Doctor Strange's main love interest in the comics, or she could play Victoria Bentley or Morgana Blessing. 

In the comics, Clea helps Doctor Strange in his battle against Dormammu and joins him in many of his adventures. As the two spend more time together, she becomes his lover and disciple. Meanwhile, Victoria is a wealthy professor's daughter who meets Strange when her dead father is impersonated by Baron Mordo, and she finds herself secretly in love with Doctor Strange. Morgana, meanwhile, is an author and a friend of Strange who becomes a potential love interest before she becomes the lover of Strange's brother Victor, who happens to be a vampire. 

Along with Cumberbatch, McAdams joins a stellar cast that includes Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, and The Wrap reports that "Hannibal" star Mads Mikkelsen is also in talks to star as a villain in the film.
