Things are starting to take shape for the next installment of "Doctor Who," based on the recent statements of series showrunner Steven Moffat.

During the special press screening of the "Doctor Who" Christmas special, the series showrunner revealed that the next installment of the long-running British sci-fi series will have a set of new writers who have no previous experience with the show.

"If I told you their names, your brain would explode," Moffat added. He also described the two as "brilliant, prominent and amazing writers."

However, the series showrunner chose not to offer any hints about the identities of the new "Doctor Who" writers for season 10.

Meanwhile, lead star Peter Capaldi talked about his ideal next companion for the upcoming season of "Doctor Who." The spot was left vacant when Jenna Coleman announced that she will no longer reprise her role as the Time Lord's companion Clara Oswald.

"With the best will in the world, I don't want a bloke," the actor told Radio Times, "because I'm frightened that they'll give him all the action and I'll be standing around spouting scientific gobbledygook... 'Oh, Peter's not up to chasing those Zygons down the corridor, let the chap do it.' And that would be awful. I want to chase the Zygons!"

The actor also said that he would like the next Time Lord's companion to be someone who is fun to be with to offer a contrast to his usually dark persona.

Good thing Moffat earlier revealed to the same news site that he is actually gearing toward another female companion for Doctor Who next season.

"I'm beginning to have an idea of the kind of person, specific ideas but not a specific actress," Moffat said. He also mentioned that they are looking to find someone who will offer a different dynamic with Capaldi.

Moffat has yet to announce the official premiere date of "Doctor Who" season 10.
