Someone familiar will join the Time Lord and his trusted companion when "Doctor Who" returns in season 9.

The BBC announced Wednesday that actor Joivan Wade will reprise his role as graffiti artist Rigsy in the 10th episode of "Doctor Who" season 9. Rigsy can be remembered as the artist who was ordered to do community service for his graffiti works in the episode titled "Flatline" in season 8. His skills, combined with his fearless and inquisitive nature, later on became beneficial for the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) as he helped them fool the Boneless last season. However, the announcement did not mention how Rigby will encounter the time travelling pair again in season 9.

The episode will be helmed by Justin Molotnikov, and written by "The Game" scriptwriter and self-confessed "Doctor Who" fan Sarah Dollard.

When Dollard was tasked to write an episode for the iconic British series, the writer stated: "Getting to play in the Doctor Who toy box is a dream come true. It's a total honour to contribute to a show that has brought me such joy as a fan. However, writing for Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman has presented a serious problem: some days I've been too excited to actually sit down and type!"

Aside from Wade, "Doctor Who" season 9 will also feature other guest stars, including actress Michelle Gomez who will reprise her role as Missy in "The Magician's Apprentice" and "The Witch's Familiar." Comedian Paul Kaye will also appear in the show as a guest artist, as well as Rufus Hound, Ariyon Bakare, Tom Stourton, Simon Lipkin, Barnaby Kay, Murray McArthur, Ian Conningham, and "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams, among others.

The production for "Doctor Who" season 9 began in January, and it is expected to air this fall.
