"Doctor Who" season 10 will introduce a new companion to the Twelfth Doctor, and Peter Capaldi, who plays the role of the beloved Time Lord, is extremely thrilled about it.

Speaking to Brazil-based publication Omelete (translated by Radio Times), the actor confirmed that Clara's (Jenna Coleman) replacement in "Doctor Who" season 10 is definitely on the way but he was too coy to dish out specific details.

"There will be a new companion, along any minute, which I'm very excited about, [because] obviously I know who that is and we've been doing a bit of work together already," Capaldi revealed.

"And it's very exciting. Because it's a very different sort of take on it," the actor continued.

As to what fans expect about the latest companion in "Doctor Who" season 10, Capaldi teased that, comparing it to Clara, the new one is "someone who knows very little about the Doctor."

As Capaldi mentioned, he is already working with this new companion. Hopefully, with work already being done, it will only be a matter of time before her identity is formally uncloaked.

Rumor has it though that "EastEnders" star Rakhee Thakrar is joining "Doctor Who" season 10. There's no information to corroborate this yet, though.

It is also high time to douse speculations that Maisie Williams's Ashildr will take the mantle from Coleman in "Doctor Who" season 10 as the "Game of Thrones" star herself has confirmed she is not returning to the sci-fi series.

"Everyone's hyping about it, which is very exciting, but I guess that's more of a publicity thing. But no, I'm not going to return, I have a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead," Williams previously told Vulture (via Screen Rant).

If Capaldi has a say as to who his character's next companion will be, "Doctor Who" fans can expect the companion will be female, as always, because the actor has already spoken about what it will mean for him if he got a bloke for a companion.

"Doctor Who" season 10 will premiere sometime in 2017.
