'Doctor Who' season 11 spoilers: What fans can expect so far
The "Doctor Who," originally a 1963 science fiction television show, aired its first revival season back in 2005. It has had increasing success and a growing fan base each year that has led to its continuous production of seasons. With season 11 already known to be in the works, here is what fans can expect from its upcoming season.
The 13th doctor will be a female. This part has already been revealed a few months ago, with Jodie Whittaker who is no foreigner to TV series, taking on the lead role.
As to how that will happen and why, at least in the context of the show itself, nobody knows just yet. Behind the scenes, Whittaker told RollingStone that she first heard about it during a coffee date with Chris Chibnall, who told her at the time that he would be holding auditions for a female doctor.
That itself is pretty much of a shocker for many fans, but it just adds more excitement to the series. Soon enough, a few other actors of the show have been revealed. One of them, singer and actor Bradley Walsh, shared his experience of their first reading while speaking on The One Show, as reported by Express.
He mentioned that there were eight people in a huge room seated around a table. The eight included him, Whittaker, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill who were also both revealed to be part of the cast. Assuming that one of them is Chibnall, there are three other actors or actresses unnamed. It could also be that they may just be part of the production crew. "[We got] black envelopes with a script in them, with your name embossed in gold," said Walsh, adding, "We had to open them at the same time."
For now, fans may just have to wait until its release, unless some other spoilers come out in the future. Even then, there is just so much that needs to be answered that can only be solved by watching. It may also be quite a long wait given that it will air around late next year.
