'Doctor Who' Season 8 new trailer: Peter Capaldi joins cast, talks about being the 'Doctor'

BBC has officially unveiled the first trailer of "Doctor Who" season 8 on its website, thus, shedding light on who will be taking the role in the show's upcoming season.

The 15-second trailer showcased a silhouette of this season's newest Time Lord, Peter Capaldi, in what looked like the Tardis.

Immediately following his brief appearance on the trailer, the words "The New Doctor Lands" appears on the screen, before confirming that the series will return this coming August.

This is not the first time Capaldi has been involved in portraying the role of Doctor on the show. He made his debut in "The Day of the Doctor," before eventually taking the lead full-time, following the exit of Matt Smith as the 11th doctor.

During an interview in August, Capaldi revealed, "Being asked to play the Doctor is an amazing privilege. Like the Doctor himself, I find myself in a state of utter terror and delight. It's so wonderful not to keep this secret any longer, but it's been so fantastic."

Over the last couple of months, fans have been teased on who the new doctor will be. Multiple reports have also revealed the names of some of the actors who will be appearing in the new series.

According to NZ Herald, Keeley Hawes, Frank Skinner, Ben Miller and Tom Riley will appear on the show. Meanwhile, new cast additions include Samuel Anderson who will be portraying the role of Danny Pink.

Capaldi will be joined by Jenna Coleman who will reprise her role as Clara Oswald and Madame Vastra will also return on the show.

Meanwhile, now that Capaldi has been confirmed as the newest Doctor this season, audiences can easily look forward to at least 12 exciting episodes plus an additional Christmas special, completing the 13-season run, Escapist Magazine confirmed.
