Donald Trump approval ratings January 2018 news: POTUS starts year with highest rating

President Donald Trump started the year 2018 with the highest approval rating since he was oathed into office. The said increase could be attributed to the Congress' action in passing its historic tax system overhaul in December.

"So, the ambitious agenda of President Trump, that helped fuel his election over a year ago, will continue," said White House aide Kellyanne Conway, according to Breitbart. "You saw how strong December was. I think in Washington, the tradition is to not work very hard in August or December. This president has reversed that, and with Congress passing very meaningful legislation late in the game."

Conway said that the tax legislation, which includes tax reduction, and the repeal of the Obamacare mandate and repatriation of money into the U.S. economy, are the agendas that helped increase the rating of the president. Because of the administration's tax system overhaul, companies responded by awarding bonuses and pay raises to their employees.

American research-based, global performance-management consulting company Gallup reports that Trump's approval rating in the beginning of December is only at 33 percent. But he managed to clinch a 40 percent approval rate at the end of the month. Trump also reached 40 percent approval rating in July and September. As per Gallup, the highest approval rating that Trump received since his inauguration is at 45 percent during his mid-March poll.

Aside from Gallup, Rasmussen Reports also indicates an improvement in the president's ratings. It recorded a 46 percent approval rate, which can rival with the approval rating of former President Barack Obama, Boston Globe reported.

With this, Trump shared on Twitter that the Fake News only loves to talk about his low approval rating. He added that this rating on Dec. 28. 2017 is the same as the rating of former President Obama on Dec. 28, 2009, which is 47 percent. He said that he got a high rating despite the negative coverage about him and Russia hoax.
