Fans of "Downton Abbey" are warned to prepare for the upcoming finale of the British period drama series as the final episode will surely move them to tears.

In an interview with Collider, actor Hugh Bonneville described the last episode in the currently airing sixth and final season of the critically acclaimed drama as a certified tearjerker.

"For the last episode, you'll need some handkerchiefs. I needed handkerchiefs reading it. It wasn't because it necessarily moved me while reading it, but it was the experience of reading it when I realized it was the last time I was ever going to be reading one of those scripts. That was quite terminal," the actor who portrays Robert Crawley in the series stated.

While series creator Julian Fellowes earlier claimed that the theme of "Downton Abbey" season 6 will be all about resolution, Bonneville disagrees. According to the actor, nothing has ever been resolved since there is no resolution in real life. For him, the theme of the final season of the series is "the end of an era."

But before the final episode of "Downton Abbey" season 6 airs, fans will still see how the Crawleys and their servants prepare for the wedding of the estate's butler Mr. Carson (Jim Carter) and housekeeper Mrs. Hughes (Phyllis Logan). But not everything will run as smoothly as planned.

According to the synopsis for the next episode, "Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes' wedding is fast approaching, but a misunderstanding threatens to derail the occasion, and when the big day arrives it also brings a few unexpected guests. Meanwhile, Edith reconnects with an old acquaintance, who comes to her aid in her hour of need, and over at the Dower House, Spratt has something to hide, and Denker is hot on his trail. Daisy jumps to conclusions over one of the countess's plots, and tensions mount over the hospital takeover, prompting Isobel to offend a friend."

"Downton Abbey" season 6 airs in the UK Sundays on iTV, while the US premiere airs on Jan. 3, 2016 in PBS.
