"Downton Abbey" season 5 is headed to North America and will be shown in PBS. Part of their promotional efforts was a Q&A session. Some of the cast of the British drama were in attendance in New York for the panel. 

Being in New York begged the question if the Crawley Family would actually go to New York. Executive producer Gareth Neame was there and said that he'd like to see that happen. But while Neame thought that it's a good idea, he also said that it would cost them $10 million. 

The Crawleys have relatives in New York, which is why an audience member thought of asking that. Paul Giamatti and Shirley MacLaine played the American relatives of the Crawleys. They had cameo scenes in the latest season, reports The Star. 

Aside from the PBS-hosted Q&A, some of the cast members of "Downton Abbey" woke up early to visit the "Today" show for a short interview.

Hugh Bonneville, who plays Robert Crawley, assured fans during the interview that there will be no Matthew Crawley-like deaths coming, saying, "I think it's fair to say that nothing quite as extreme as that."  

Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith, also had something to share about her character's hard life.

"It's another tough season. She's got a lot of secrets," she said.

There was some joking around, too, during the morning interview. The cast shared that they were happy that George Clooney visited Downton for a charity special. 

Lesley Nicol, who plays Mrs. Patmore, jokingly said, "We didn't all get to meet him, and we're not bitter. We weren't all invited, but it's okay." 

"Downton Abbey" season 5 will debut in North America on Jan. 4 on PBS.
