American fans of "Downton Abbey" are anticipating the new year with such enthusiasm and excitement. The British hit drama will be landing on American shores in just a matter of days. It's going to be another wonderful ride with the Crawley Family this season 5. 

This season, the story is still set in the 1920s, so fans can expect the majestic costumes and sets still in place. But more than these, it is the story of the Crawley Family that is the focus of the entire show. In this new season, some characters find closure, while some face more problems. However, the strict social customs of the family are still very much apparent. 

So, what's new? For one, the Crawley's house is different now. Also, they are slowly adapting to the changing world and slowly breaking free from their strict traditions. Still, the presence of the Dowager Countess remains as the pillar of their social customs. 

Furthermore, there's one character in the show who goes through a huge emotional growth in season 5. It is none other than Lady Edith, played by actress Lauren Charmichael. Charmichael was more than happy to share some details about the change in Lady Edith and what she will be facing in the new season.

She had this to say in an interview with Toronto Star: "In Season 5 we see more of her in London writing for the newspaper." 

However, her career isn't the most important thing, it is actually her child that is the biggest factor in her emotional struggle.

"It's always a bummer to start this way. We know where she is, and it's not a happy place when we leave her at the end of the last season. The child she brought back from Switzerland, she has managed to find a home on the estate. It's not going to be without its problems. She cannot live with the fact that her child has been separated from her," Charmichael said.
