'Downton Abbey' season 5 spoilers: New relationships and shocking twists in latest rumors

"Downton Abbey" fans are in for a huge treat for its upcoming fifth season. Immediately after airing the series' fourth season finale episode, audiences have been speculating as to what may happen to their favorite characters on the show.

In the past, rumors claimed that the show's upcoming fifth season will be its last. However, actress Michelle Dockery, who plays the role of Lady Mary, confirmed that she will be staying on the show regardless of whether it will be its last season or not.

"I am sticking to the show for however long the producers want it to go. We don't know how long it's going to go on for. We're on series five now. What's great is that we have six months of the year to do other things in between so I am still here and whatever opportunities come up, then I will go with it," Dockery said to ITV.

But, beyond rumors of the show's possible cancellation after its fifth season, so many other things are worth watching out for in the next couple of months.

Previously, Dockery has been spotted filming with one of her co-stars Tom Cullen, Hollywood Life reported. So does this mean he's the one she chose to be her partner for life?

Another exciting news came from the show's executive producer, Gareth Neame, who revealed that Maggie Smith will be reprising character as Violet Crawley.

"She'll be back this season. She's a huge part of the show, and I think she enjoys doing it. I think it's remarkable for someone who's had such a long and illustrious career to still be delivering work of this caliber," Neame told THR.

Meanwhile, the entire cast of "Downton Abbey" appeared on the Television Academy event that took place over the weekend.

Joanne Froggatt discussed her controversial "rape moment" from season 4 and revealed that it was an "eye-opening experience."

To add to the excitement expected off season 5, Froggatt revealed that her role as Anna will become more honest with Mary, Zap2It reported.

"Downton Abbey" returns in the U.K in September and will air in the United States in January 2015.
