'Downwell' vertical shooter game releasing this year

Devolver Digital

Another awesome game from Devolver Digital is coming out this year and it gives players guns for feet. "Downwell," the pet project of independent Japanese game developer Ojiro Fumoto, is a vertical shooter that follows a young fortune hunter's journey as he plummets into the pits of a monster-packed well.

As Devolver Digital put it, there will be "mysterious secrets" and "nasty creatures" to take care of as the character takes the dangerous dive, so players are well outfitted with guns, which are made more fun by having them fastened to the character's boots.

"Downwell" requires precision and timing as players will have to gun down enemies and collect as many much-needed red gems as they can while they plunge into the darkness. A "relatively oddly placed shop" will also be available for gamers to purchase useful items, and they can even level up between caverns, kill off terrorizing fiends and, at the same time, unearth hidden caves overflowing with treasures and relics.

Gamers can play "Downwell" during the Game Developers Conference 2015 at the Moscone Convention Center in California from March 2 to 6 . The event recognizes the upcoming game as a contender in the Independent Games Festival's Student Showcase award. "Downwell" will also put in an appearance at the PAX East 2015 from March 6 to 8. Those who want to check it out can head to the Indie Megabooth at Booth 5149.

Devolver Digital, the studio that brought remarkable titles such as "Hotline Miami," "Luftrausers," "The Talos Principle" and the forthcoming 2D top-down action video game developed by Dennaton Games titled "Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number," is expected to bring out "Downwell" with a bang. Gamers will be able to play "Downwell" with their iOS and Android smartphones as well as their PC when it is released sometime this year.
