'Dragon Age: Inquisition' gets great reviews; 1st patch update won't include Banter Bug fix

The grand open-world role-playing video game called "Dragon Age: Inquisition" is the third installment in the "Dragon Age" franchise and is Bioware and EA's newest release. It was one of Cyber Monday's big hits after its $60 original price rolled down to $45. Those who got the game for $15 less should be the luckiest. The title is easily a favorite. It has received impressive and even outstanding reviews, loved dearly for its unspoiled graphics and gripping story. Heavy.com even went on to tell that "Dragon Age: Inquisition" has a great chance of actually being hailed as 2014's Game of the Year.

Observation Deck iO9 called "Dragon Age: Inquisition" "Skyrim" on steroids, adding how the game instantly became on par with its fellow Bioware offering, the "Mass Effect" franchise. The site added that "Dragon Age" Inquisition," like "Far Cry," has greatly improved its visuals, particularly the facial textures, which makes for really great closeups. Tech Crunch remarked in its review that the installment is the most ambitious, and added that it's the most engrossing title the site laid its gamer hands on.

With the great reviews flooding the installment, nobody seems to have cared much about the not-so disturbing let-down that came with it. Kotaku pointed out the existence of the Banter Bug. Some players have gone to explore locations and the game, but eventually realized the absence of the characters' bantering in the field. As Kotaku explained, these short chats are usually present and they all help the characters bring out their self more in the game. In addition, there is no music when players' characters traverse the turf, even though there should be. While the site has not experienced the error, many players did and they already took their reports to EA's Answer HQ page.

On the other hand, "Dragon Age" Executive Producer Mark Darrah announced that Bioware is in the process of knowing all there is to know about the bug to fix it readily.

"Note that it is possible to consume all of the banter available to a follower given your place in the story. Still investigating," Durrah tweeted.

However, Durrah said that the problem won't be addressed soon as he tweeted some gamers in answer to the availability of a permanent solution, saying, "This will not be fixed in the FIRST patch, however, as we do not have a reliable repro or a fix."

"Dragon Age" gamers have shared one that may help. It requires users to do "fast-traveling straight from the war-room table."

"Dragon Age: Inquisition" was released on Nov. 18 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
