"The Descent," the latest story-based DLC for "Dragon Age: Inquisition," is now available for download for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC but not for last-gen consoles PS3 and Xbox 360. The DLC costs $15, although Xbox One users may play it for free via EA Access.  

"The Descent" takes the Inquisition down to the Deep Roads, a setting featured prominently in "Dragon Age: Origins," to investigate the cause of massive quakes that threaten the whole world of Thedas. The journey is not easy, however, as the Deep Roads is home to the evil Darkspawn. 

In "Dragon Age" lore, the Deep Roads is where the Darkspawn reside as they can only gather forces and rise up to the surface during a Blight with the aid of an Arch Demon. When there isn't a Blight, the Darkspawn are pushed back to the farthest depths of the Deep Roads by special Dwarven soldiers known as the Legion of the Dead. 

Unlike the previous story-based DLC, "Jaws of Hakkon," this new expansion will be launched simultaneously on all supported platforms. "Jaws of Hakkon" saw a controversial time-exclusive release for PC and Xbox One before being released on the PS4. 

Patch 9, on the other hand, will add the new multiplayer character Pala, a Silent Sister and dwarven warrior. 

"A member of the Silent Sisters of Orzammar, Pala is a zealous dwarven warrior with an unwavering dedication to the art of war. Pala willingly chose exile to join the Inquisition in its perpetual struggle against the enemies of Thedas," reads her official description from Bioware. 

Patch 9 fixes graphical issues for the PC; unnecessary "online connection" popup upon game launch for the Xbox One version; and for the PS4, it fixes a glitch that causes the game to be unresponsive while losing connection when joining a full multiplayer session. 

The patch also adds a hotkey for Salvage in multiplayer mode while also fixing several issues in the game such as a glitch that makes XP and stats double during multiplayer sessions and a glitch that causes the Yavanalis staff headpiece to not appear properly.
