Long-awaited news on the development of the next "Dragon Age" installment surfaces. BioWare's release for its next generation online multi-player shooter, "Anthem," suffers from lack of resources.

According to a report by Kotaku, BioWare's release for "Anthem" has been delayed to early 2019, as resources are spread too thin between the development of a new "Dragon Age" title and maintenance of "Star Wars: The Old Republic."

Fans of the "Dragon Age" series have been itching to get their hands on the next installment, having not seen any new content since 2014's "Dragon Age: Inquisition."

BioWare Executive Producer Mark Darrah recently took to Twitter to confirm the news. Darrah is the executive producer for both the "Anthem" and "Dragon Age" titles. He tweeted, "I am EP of BOTH DA and Anthem working with @Bio_Warner as Game Director Anthem's up next but there are people hard at work on both franchises and I look forward to sharing more in the future."

Although fans may have news of "Anthem's" official release, which has been delayed, fans of the "Dragon Age" series have yet to hear any official news aside from its development. There has been no official announcement about the release date of the new "Dragon Age" title. There has been news on its development before, when Alex Kennedy confirmed writing content for the next "Dragon Age" title in May 2017.

"Dragon Age" is a strategical action role-playing game series created by BioWare. The series is set in fictional medieval times where players assume the role of a "Grey Warden," a hero who battle against evil hordes of "darkspawn" in a bid to save humanity. The game's plot and outcome largely depend on the player's own decisions and actions. Much like its famous futuristic counterpart, "Mass Effect."

Fans of both titles, however, hope the new "Dragon Age" will live up to expectations, following the unsatisfactory reception of "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
