'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' release news: Goku Black no longer pre-order exclusive

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is going to have one of the largest roster of characters in any "Dragon Ball" video game and one of the new characters being added is Goku Black, one of the villains from "Dragon Ball Super." As reported by Saiyan Island, he will no longer be a pre-order bonus.

Bandai Namco initially planned on releasing Goku Black as a playable character solely to players who pre-order the game. However, the report states that due to negative backlash and numerous comments from gamers the character is no longer going to be a pre-order exclusive.

Instead, Goku Black will be offered as a paid DLC some time after the game launches. This will allow everyone to avail of the character, regardless if they pre-ordered the game or not.

It is noted that the Future Trunks from "Dragon Ball Super" -- not to be confused with Future Trunks from "Dragon Ball Z" -- is a playable character on the Steam Early Access version of the game and it is unknown if he will be given the same post-launch DLC treatment as Goku Black.

The Bitbag also reveals that while Goku Black is now going to be available for everyone, Super Saiyan Rose Goku Black is not. As a matter of fact, the Super Saiyan Rose form of Goku Black won't be available at all and this would make sense given that this transformation had just been introduced in the "Dragon Ball Super" anime.

However, the Super Saiyan Rose transformation may become available in the future via paid DLC. At the time being, however, there are no plans of introducing this transformation into the game.

The report also points out that Bandai Namco is trying to make it up to players who bought the first game and will now include Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2."

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" launches on Oct. 28.
