It has been a while since Westerners have been treated with a "Dragon Quest" game. This week, Sony PlayStation confirmed that the new "Dragon Quest Heroes" will be coming to the U.S.

While Sony PlayStation said in its official blog that the game is currently available in Japan, gamers in North America and Europe will be able to get their hands on the "Dragon Quest" title this year. Although no specific release date was given, the company announced that the game will be available in digital and physical copies and will be exclusive for PlayStation 4 in contrast to Japan's PS3 and PS4 versions.

Meanwhile, the first "Dragon Quest Heroes" DLC will arrive in Japan on March 5 for free. The first expansion pack will reportedly bring forth new battles and sub-plots and will enable players to unlock items and prizes. Crunchyroll News detailed the contents of the DLC and stated that Arena Battle and Alena/Kiryl sub-story will be coming on March 5, while the Demon Swordsman Battle and the Jessica/Yangus sub-story will be released on March 12. The DLC will also include sub-stories of Gods of Destruction, Great Demon Lord Battle, Greatest Demon Beast Battle, Slaughter Battle, Bianca/Nera, Maya, and Terry.

"Dragon Quest Heroes" is the first full-scale action role playing game. It follows the story of the main lead that must overcome various obstacles, including an army of villains and monsters designed by world-renowned artist Akira Toriyama. The PlayStation Blog said that the game is full of adventure.

The new "Dragon Quest" title was officially announced at the pre-Tokyo Game Show PlayStation press conference. IGN said that the game will also get a themed gaming console with Metal Slime USB cover.
