A remastered heart-stealing Dragon awaits the Arisen, as "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen" gets released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4), along with a launch trailer to celebrate its arrival on the next generation (next-gen) consoles.

"Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen," developed and published by Capcom, is finally getting its Xbox One and PS4 versions after years of being available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. The launch trailer shows the visually remastered game, complete with high-resolution textures, updated animations, lighting, and effects. It also shows the main antagonist of the game, a Dragon which apparently took the player's heart, forcing the latter to find it and claim it back, presumably in exchange for something dear.

It is worth noting that the Xbox One and PS4 versions are essentially remasters of the game since it was initially released back in 2012 on the Xbox 360 and PS3. A PC version was also released back in 2016. All the versions of the game have since gained critical and consumer acclaim, with the Steam version of the game having an overwhelmingly positive review rating: 88 percent of its overall reviews are positive.

"Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen" is a game where players embark in the open-world of Gransys in search of the Dragon with the help of three artificial intelligence (AI) companions called "Pawns." These Pawns are also one of the selling points of the game, as players are able to customize, share, and trade them with other players online.

The game is also famous for its dynamic and exhilarating combat, allowing players to climb one of the heads of a hydra to cut it off, going up the back of a large ogre to get to its weak spot, or clinging to a flying dragon or griffon to do damage.

Despite being five years old, the release of the game on the next-gen consoles was still met with the same acclaim as its previous-generation counterparts. At the time of writing, the PS4 version has a 78 critic metascore and a 9.3 user metascore. The Xbox One version does not have scores yet, but its gameplay is highly similar to the PS4 version.

The next-gen console versions of "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen" were released on Oct. 3. Its original PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are also still available, along with the PC version on Microsoft Windows via Steam. The PC, Xbox One, and PS4 versions all come bundled with the "Dark Arisen" expansion for the game.
