'Duck Dynasty' season 8 air date: premiere set for June 24

(A&E)

The highly-anticipated eighth season of "Duck Dynasty" may have been postponed but just like the show's fans, A&E is not ready to let go of the Robertsons just yet. Zap2it published a press release confirming that the premiere episode of the well-loved series' new season will air on June 24 so fans of the show can finally breathe.

Viewers were disappointed when the series failed to return on the initial prearranged date, which was May 14. The dismay slowly changed to worry when the network made it seem (by not giving a new premiere date) that the show may not be returning at all.

"Duck Dynasty" season 8 will continue to follow the growing Robertson clan and the challenges that come their way. The premiere episode will feature the family organizing an engagement party for John Luke and Mary Kate, with the former getting advice from Willie and the guys during a golf session.

It is also in this season that the family will be shown helping out John Luke in preparing for his big day. Viewers will also get to take part in other fun family activities such as a Fourth of July barbeque, wrapped up beautifully by a homemade fireworks display courtesy of Jase. A veterans association also honors Uncle Si by organizing an exhibit, inspired by his colorful life, in a local military museum.

In a nutshell, just like the previous "Duck Dynasty" seasons, season 8 will be another fun ride for fans and the family that continues to expand.

Looking ahead, fans dread the rumors about "Duck Dynasty" season 8 being the final run of the series. Alan Robertson's previous statements — regarding the contract running only through to 2015 and his doubts about the show going on after that — worry fans.

For now, there's no telling whether or not the A&E series will go for another round. The best thing to take away from this is that season 8 will hit the small screen soon.
