Zombie apocalypse game "Dying Light" is set to receive an expansion, the upcoming "The Following" DLC.

In a livestream by developer Techland, players got to catch a glimpse of how the next expansion will play out. "The Following" is expected to provide more content, and also introduce new features to the title.

Most noted among the features that will roll out for the "Dying Light" via the expansion update is that players will be able to gain access to a skill tree for a customizable dune buggy. Upgrading the dune buggy will give players additional options to overcome hordes of zombies, such as zombie-killer UV lamps and add-on spikes. The new upgrades are in addition to the dune buggy itself being a weapon, in which players can mow down the approaching undead.

Meanwhile, there will also be a new karma system, where player actions will determine reputation in an area. Players who help survivors with their zombie problem gain their trust, and these same survivors may be able to help the players along the course of the game.

Aside from the new features, "The Following" will also introduce players to new weapons, such as a sub-machine gun and a crossbow, reportedly included due to huge fan feedback. The fans, after all, are a huge part of the upcoming update.

As "Dying Light" producer Tymon Smektala had been quoted as saying, "We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we've created here."

Smektala also added that since the DLC was put up because of the feedback, it will be well-received by fans.

"Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans," he said.

Although Techland already previewed what "The Following" DLC will look like when it is released, they have yet to come out with a specific release date.
