'Dying Light' update: New DLC will be massive

Earlier in the year, developer Techland already dropped hints to fans about an upcoming major DLC for its zombie survival game, "Dying Light." The company has already confirmed that the expansion, dubbed as "The Following," will introduce new features and improvements to the title.

Since "The Following" is considered as a major update and not a feature add-on, new features will be included for the base game. First, those who would play the new expansion will find the area and locations much larger than what they are used to in the current Harran locale. According to teasers by the developer, the new map will be at least double the original area.

The new unlocked areas will also be improved. Unlike the cramped cityscape of Harran, the new locations will feature more open-world areas, as evidenced by the newest teaser trailer for the DLC, first unveiled at this year's recently-concluded Gamescom event.

The new DLC will also introduce the use of vehicles as an essential part of exploration and zombie huntings. Although the developer has not provided any details on the type and number of cars and wheeled weapons players will have at their disposal, Techland provided a hint – fan-favorite dune buggies will be included as playable equipment. The dune buggy itself will become a weapon, able to mow down waves of zombies, and will have its own skill tree that can be unlocked and upgraded.

It is speculated that with the expanded map, improved gameplay, and additional story and content, players will experience at least an additional 10-hour long gaming time for "The Following," and those who are nitpicky with how to play the game and play it as close to 100 percent as possible will log as much as 20 hours of gameplay.

No specific release dates were mentioned for "The Following," but the expansion will be priced at $15 as a regular expansion download, and $20 as an inclusion in the "Dying Light" DLC pass.
