"Dynasty Warriors 9" is expected to be so much bigger than its predecessors as the game is confirmed to be set in an open world. The latest issue of Famitsu magazine, as reported by Siliconera, discussed the Three Kingdoms of China and other game mechanics.

An open world means there are plenty of rooms for freedom. Players can now maximize their terrain and take advantage of their environment for strategies. The open world can now let the armies attack everywhere depending on the player's plans; this will come in handy for full scale wars.

In line with the open world, time and weather can now change in real time. This means that depending on the weather, things will get easier or harder for both enemy and allied armies. This will also help players plan strategies to defeat the enemies as they can maximize this feature for defense or assault.

To maximize their surroundings, players are also allowed to do "interactive actions." In this new feature, players can make certain actions depending on their current topography or objects. Characters can unleash attacks using nearby objects as weapons or climb mountains using certain objects.

Aside from the open-world, the story is also updated for "Dynasty Warriors 9."

According to director Akihiro Suzuki and producer Jun Miyauchi, the story will follow the "Records of the Three Kingdoms." In addition to this, they are now planning stories for the generals as well. Even though their stories are centered about them, there will not be any stories related to these generals changing history.

It is reported that 40% of the game is already complete and "Dynasty Warriors 9" is definitely coming to the PlayStation 4.
