The MMA simulation game "EA Sports UFC 2" has gotten a new update, and aside from tweaks and improvements in-game, the update also unlocks some familiar characters as playable fighters, one of them the franchise's announcer, Joe Rogan.

According to GameRant, the new update unlocks three additional characters, two of whom can instantly be selected among the roster – Sage Northcutt from the welterweight division, and Jessica Aguilar from the women's strawweight. However, the third player was a mystery until some enterprising fans found a workaround for it.

It turns out that the third, mysterious fighter is UFC announcer Joe Rogan. EA Sports also gave a nod to a classic industry detail, as fans will only be able to unlock Rogan using the infamous Konami Code.

For the PlayStation 4, the code (which some hardcore gamers already know by heart) is Up > Up > Down > Down > Left > Right > Left > Right O > X > Options button. There is also the Xbox One counterpart, where after the directional buttons, players need to press B > A > Menu button.

If the unlock is successful, players will hear Rogan exclaiming, "Wow! I love it!"

"EA Sports UFC 2" debuted on March 15 and has already received its first update. When it launched last week, it immediately breached the top 10 retail games in the U.K. for the week, according to PlayStation Lifestyle, only one place behind "Tom Clancy's The Division." Reviews on the latest MMA simulation game are mixed, with some observers saying that the game remains true to its genre but fails to deliver an awesome knockout punch. New York Daily News hails the real-life physics for the fighters and gameplay, stating that the game "captures the perfect brawling spirit of the UFC, with rock-solid fundamentals and some of the finest visuals you've ever seen in a sports game."
