Singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran, a known close friend of Taylor Swift, has revealed that he approves of the American singer's new boyfriend, actor Joe Alywn.

The English singer recently sat down with the Capitol Breakfast radio show and offered his opinion about his friend's new romantic relationship. "He's really nice. Really, really friendly, really good dude," he said.

Sheeran also shared that not only has he met Alywn, but he has also spent time with the celebrity couple. "We're in touch," he said, "quite a fair bit, you know, and she's been in London quite a bit as well."

While his comments are not much, they echo the sentiments of another one of Swift's close friends, singer Selena Gomez, who recently said that she is happy with her friend's new relationship.

Over the years, the romantic relationships of Swift has become a favorite subject among media outlets and reporters that even her friends have found themselves getting asked about what their opinions are about the singer's latest partner.

Swift and Alywn have managed to keep their relationship relatively low profile. One insider has revealed that this decision has made the singer very happy. "Her decision to keep her relationship with Joe quiet is making her happy," the insider told People back in August. "They have been getting to know each other slowly without any pressure."

In the new video for her new single "...Ready for It?" Swift included multiple cryptic messages and symbols that fans have deduced to be referring to her actor boyfriend.

In one scene, the graffiti behind the singer shows "89" and "91," which turns out are the birth years of the couple. There are also some Chinese characters in the background of the video, one of which translates to "Joseph."

The singer may have more to say about her love life when her new album, "Reputation" is released on Nov. 10.
