'The Elder Scrolls 6' release date: Bethesda to reveal game at E3 2016?

The wait for the successor of 'The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim' continues.Bethesda Softworks

After the success of Bethesda's "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" back in 2011, fans of the long-running action role-playing game have been waiting to see a continuation of the game.

However, four years after the release of last major installment in the franchise, Bethesda is still mum about the future of the series. It was also noticeably absent during the studio's game lineup during the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015 in June.

The last time that the game developer talked about the possible "The Elder Scrolls VI" was when Bethesda's vice president of marketing Pete Hines said that the game studio may not be interested in coming up with a "Skyrim 2" despite its huge success.

"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about 'when is Skyrim 2 coming out?'" the Bethesda exec said. "The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge. They'd be spitting out a Skyrim 2 the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015'."

Hines also said that they normally focus on smaller projects, and they choose to publish games based on quality and not to widen their scale. This could mean that they would want to make sure that the next installment in the video game franchise is worth the long wait.

At the moment, Bethesda is busy preparing for the release of "Fallout 4" on Nov. 10. This is perhaps the reason why the company has chosen not to divulge any information about their plans for the next "The Elder Scrolls" installment at the E3 2015 event.

However, Master Herald claimed that the game studio might reveal the much-awaited information regarding "The Elder Scrolls VI" during their E3 2016 appearance, and the game could be released shortly after that.

But while "The Elder Scrolls VI" details may not be sufficient at the moment, the game developer announced that they will be releasing a collectible card video game titled "The Elder Scrolls: Legends" for PC and iOS devices later this year.
