'Elementary' season 4 episode 14 spoilers: Will Sherlock's mother patch things up between him and his dad?
The Holmes family drama will once again surface in the next episode of "Elementary" season 4.
In the first half of the season, viewers of the show were introduced to Sherlock's (Jonny Lee Miller) father Morland Holmes (John Noble). Their relationship has long been strained, but it seems like a major development will happen in the episode titled "Who Is That Masked Man?"
According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode, "When Holmes' investigation into the attempt on Morland's life pushes their strained relationship to the breaking point, the identity of Sherlock's mother is revealed. Also, when three gang members are murdered, Holmes and Watson are amazed when an elderly woman emerges as their prime suspect."
The means that the mysterious Holmes matriarch will finally enter the picture in the 14th episode of "Elementary" season 4. Talks about her appearance in the series were first revealed by executive producer Rob Doherty in October 2015.
"I feel like we have an obligation at some point this season to flesh out [Mama Holmes's'] story and explain why she is not featured on the show alongside Mr. Holmes," Doherty said, as quoted by Zap2it. "I think that would be a matter of ... I can't say a matter of time [laughs] ... it's a story we need to tell. We need to find the right moment. I think mom is a big reason why Sherlock and his father have struggled to the degree that they have, struggled as father and son."
But since Sherlock and his father will be reunited with his mother in the upcoming episode, fans of the series are also hoping that his brother Mycroft (Rhys Ifans) could somehow return to the show to join the family in a little get-together.
"Elementary" season 4 episode 14 airs Thursday, Feb. 25, on CBS.
