Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu and John Noble graced last weekend's 2015 New York Comic Con event with series executive producer Robert Doherty to talk about what's in store for "Elementary" season 4.

One of the revelations that was dropped during the panel was about the repeated relapse of Miller's character Sherlock that began toward the end of season 3.

According to Miller, Sherlock's substance abuse problem will not be resolved easily. "A problem like that doesn't ever go away in someone's life," he shared during the panel. "Drug addiction is something that can be handled ... but the problem itself isn't ever going to go away. It's a storyline you can always go back to ... It's not a huge nemesis that is dealt with and then done with."

Sherlock's problem will greatly affect his relationship with Liu's character Joan Watson. According to the actress, the dynamic between the two have already changed into something deeper, and it evolved from being a simple sober companionship to something much more personal.

However, it was also revealed that the viewers will also learn about Joan's complex history with Sherlock's father Morland, portrayed by actor John Noble.

Morland will be introduced this season as the mysterious parent of Sherlock who was missing in his life for a long time. This means that any interaction between the two will be filled with tension. According to Miller, "I think he's expecting more reaction to his disdain for his father ... but it doesn't go anywhere for him, Morland never really takes the bait, so he's pretty frustrated."

The panel also learned that Liu will be sitting on the director's chair this season to helm episode 22, which the actress revealed was a very ambitious project for her.

"Elementary" season 4 premieres on CBS on Nov. 5.
