While most TV series are on break, "Elementary" didn't stop airing its fourth episode titled "All My Exes Live in Essex," which falls on Thanksgiving Day.

According to CarterMatt, the series created by Robert Doherty didn't take its Thanksgiving break because there are several episodes in each season that just need to be aired. "Elementary" also premiered its season 4 late, so the show needs more time to make up for the lost days.

The news outlet continued that the ratings of the show were not affected when it also aired on last year's Thanksgiving.

The next episode titled "The Games Underfoot" will be aired in two weeks. This means that the show will take a long break before it returns on Dec. 10.

Meanwhile, the latest episode gave fans another exciting case for Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu) to work on. The duo investigated the case of a dead fertility lab tech.

It was also noted that this particular episode is the first of season 4 in which Sherlock's father, Morland (John Noble) was nowhere in the plot, Entertainment Weekly noted.

Morland has been an absentee father to his son, but this season, Morland is going to pop up every now and then. As revealed by Doherty during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the season will deal with Sherlock's daddy issues, as he needs to get used to the idea of having a father around.

Meanwhile, Thursday's episode also introduced a cop named Cortes (Monique Gabriela Curnen), who appears to be following Watson. Entertainment Weekly noted that while the cop's motive remains uncertain, she seems to dislike Watson and has been harassing her in the episode.

Watson and Holmes could be dealing with this new threat, as Cortes will reportedly investigate as to how the two got reinstated in the New York Police Department (NYPD). The news outlet also added that this detective may make a comeback later as the episodes move forward.

Many fans were also disappointed by the fact that Cortes and Watson's fight wasn't shown at all, TVFanatic reported.

Who Cortes really is and what she'll bring to the show remains to be seen.

"Elementary" season 4 will return on Dec. 10 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
