Drake has refuted rumors that he will be facing Eminem in a freestyle rap battle. In his Summer Sixteen Tour at Madison Square Garden on August 4 he voiced a shout out to Hot 97 for starting the rumor that is based on lies. "They tellin' lies on Hot 97 and that's how it goes," he purportedly said.

The speculations all started from the radio show Hot 97 who is hosted by DJ Ebro telling Drake that Eminem is formulating a diss track that is intended for him. Drake allegedly answered that Eminem wouldn't do such a thing but claimed that he will be ready to retaliate in case it happened.

"I told Drake that I heard the rumor Eminem was going to gear up to come after him. He laughed. He was like, 'That's not gonna happen.' He's like, 'He'd never do that. And if he did, I got something for him, too."

DJ Ebro later clarified on twitter that his statement was a joke but the damage has been done. From there, the rumors spread like wildfire racking up further buzzes that made other rappers pit the two against each other, betting who will most likely win and emerged as the best lyricist.

Along with the spectators who are claiming bets of this presumed battle, rapper Kanye West join the hype as he sided with Drake while DJ Funkmaster Flex backed Slim Shady. Rapper Meek Mill also sided with Eminem and is reportedly reaching out to him to do some collaborations pitted against Drake. Meek Mill may still harbor ill feelings in his feud with Drake accusing the "Views" rapper of using a ghostwriter.

These speculations could also help for the promotion of Slim Shady's new album as fans anticipated his comeback after his last solo record that was released in 2013 and the compilation album "Shady XV" that was released on 2014.
