Rapper-songwriter Eminem has not given any announcement regarding a new studio album or if he is indeed working on one, but word on the street is that the project is still in the pipeline.

According to reports, the compilation is called "Root," and it will have 12 tracks. Also, it will reportedly contain collaborations with other artists, such as Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dog, and Skylar Grey.

It's been three years since Eminem released his eighth album. Titled "The Marshall Mathers LP 2," it was declared the Best Rap Album at the 57th Grammy Award. It also won Top Rap Album at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards and was certified double platinum in 2014 by the Recording Industry Association of America. Fans are undoubtedly looking forward to a new offering from the award-winning rapper.

However, Eminem does not release a new compilation every year nor is there a pattern. His studio albums were released in 1996, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2009, 2010, and 2013, so fans should not really be surprised if he takes his time in creating a new one.

Still, rumors abound regarding the supposed delay of the alleged album. The rapper is said to have been lacking inspiration, that he had been busy with other projects, and that he is "facing a few issues." HNGN, on the other hand, reports that the delay could be due to his collaboration with the above-mentioned artists.

"Root" is speculated to be released next year. Eminem, according to GameNGuide, is believed to be among the performers at the Beachclub 2017 that is set to take place in Montreal, so it is surmised that it would be one of the venues where he could promote the said album.

Eminem has yet to make an announcement about "Root." Until then, fans should take these rumors with a grain of salt.
