Darkness was upon the most secure prison in Mexico the night of July 11, Saturday, as the nation's most powerful and unfathomable drug lord, Joaquín Guzmán, also known as El Chapo, devised the perfect plan to escape and prompted one of history's biggest manhunts.

The kingpin could be on his way to reunite with his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, who has now become the focus of attention after Guzmán's escape.

Now, American-born Aispuro remains silent despite the wide coverage on her husband.

Aispuro is a former beauty queen who got married to the drug cartel kingpin Guzmán when she was just a teenager.

She was born in California in November 1989 to parents Ines Coronel Barreras, a cattleman, and Blanca Estela Aispuro, as stated in Daily Entertainment News.

She met Guzmán at party that was organized by her father back in 2006. She then married Guzmán on July 3, 2007, when she was eighteen years old. In Aug. 15, 2011, she gave birth to twins at Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, California, where Aispuro, a dual citizen, is known to have fled to.

On Nov. 20, 2006, Emma joined the 2007 Great Coffee and Guava Festival, where candidates needed to organize events in order to win.

She may be a beauty queen but according to The Daily Beast, her being the winner of the Coffee and Guava crown was questioned since then-boyfriend Guzmán hosted a lavish party at the time of the competition, sparking allegations from some that he helped sway the vote.

After the big news on her husband's escape, Aispuro remains a mystery and is yet to make a public appearance.

Meanwhile, the kingpin himself is continuing to make the news.
