'Empire' season 2 episode 9 spoilers: Cookie learns the truth about Laz

Cookie deals with a bunch of problems in the upcoming episode of "Empire." Facebook/Fox

Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will finally discover that her new boyfriend Laz (Adam Rodriguez) is in cahoots with the goons who kidnapped Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) in the upcoming episode of the FOX series "Empire."

In "Sinned Against," CarterMatt reports that there will be a lot of drama surrounding Cookie in episode 9. First, she will learn that the man she has been sleeping with plotted the abduction of her son. After all the heartaches she had to endure while worrying if Hakeem was still alive, it turned out the man who comforted her was the culprit. Now that the secret is out in the open, what will Cookie do? Will she charge him with kidnapping?

Meanwhile, the arrival of her sister Candace (Vivica A. Fox) last episode is definitely taking a toll on her. It is obvious there is no love lost between them, or if there is, it is buried deep. The promo shows Cookie scornfully asking Candace why nobody looked for her when she got locked up, whereas now, they are trying to locate Carol (Tasha Smith). The other sister is missing and Candace blames Cookie for what is happening with her. But while they bicker, the sisters will still set aside their differences and hire someone, a criminal even, to find her.

As for Jamal (Jussie Smollett), the synopsis reveals that he and a new artist under Empire, Skye Summers (guest star Alicia Keys) will play sweet music together. The two will reportedly be collaborating, and the promo shows the connection they have with each other. Summers is the latest addition to the Empire family and her powerful voice is set to conquer the stage, but she has a secret that can potentially destroy her blossoming career.

Elsewhere, Hakeem is facing a big problem with Anika (Grace Gealey). The girl appears to be losing it, as she starts to tail him wherever he is going. Anika is pregnant with Hakeem's child, but she has not told him about the baby yet. Instead, the promo shows her crashing into a party Hakeem is in and demanding that he confess his love for her. Last episode, she was last seen pretending to be a limo driver while picking up Hakeem's current girlfriend Laura (Jamila Velazquez). Is Anika losing her grip on reality?

"Empire" season airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
