Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) may have felt vindicated after trumping Lucious (Terrence Howard) out of his position as the CEO and chairman of "Empire," but he is sure to feel the consequences of his actions soon.

The fall finale of the hit FOX series saw the youngest Lyon child getting the better of his father, disregarding Cookie's (Taraji P. Henson) advice and then siding with the enemy in the form of Mimi devious Mimi (Marisa Tomei) and Camilla (Naomi Campbell). When it was his turn to vote whether or not to kick Lucious out of his throne, Hakeem surprised everyone by voting to oust him. For Hakeem, this was payback for all the bad things his father did to him and his mother. His decision was firmed up after ex-girlfriend Camila convinced him that Lucious has not done anything to further his career and that by going back to her, she could take it to the next level.

Mimi has set the plan to overthrow Lucious even before the Swiftstream deal. She has planned the move from the start, and the viewers now know that it is revenge for what he and Cookie did to her wife Camilla. Still, Mimi has had a hard time putting her heist in motion, as loyal Andre (Trai Byers) and Thirsty (Andre Royo) have Lucious' back. She still needed a trump card to win this tug-of-war game, and that was when Hakeem surprisingly obliged her. With his vote, Lucious is now officially thrown out of the company, even if he still has majority of shares. Cookie was horrified that her son chose that moment to let out all the hurt for Lucious, but she understands where Hakeem is coming from.

Will Hakeem soon regret his decision? Mimi is reportedly planning to hand over the reins to Camilla, as she has to take care of her health. With Camilla on the helm, things will surely change in Empire. She is an ambitious woman and viewers can be sure she has no intention of letting go of her spoils so soon. In fact, she is here to stay, as co-creator told Deadline that Camilla would play a big part in season 2B.

"I don't know who in the writer's room came up with that but I thought it was so genius and I loved it so much. The idea that Camilla comes in at the end of the first half of this season and takes over Empire...well, I remember when I saw the first cut of tonight's episode and Naomi shows up, I just started cheering it made me so happy" he shared.

"Empire" will return on Wednesday, March 30, at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
