'Empire' season 2 spoilers: Lucious, Cookie temporarily forget rift for family in episode 6

The Lyon family sticks together in the face of Hakeem's kidnapping in the upcoming episode of "Empire." Facebook/Fox

Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will put family first in the upcoming episode of the Fox series "Empire."

In "A High Hope for a Low Heaven," Cartermatt reports that the warring couple will temporarily settle their triviality in the face of a family crisis. Their youngest son, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) has been kidnapped by a group of street thugs who wanted to blackmail Lyon Dynasty for money. In episode 6, the entire Lyon family must band together and find the missing teenager before it becomes too late.

While Jamal (Jussie Smollett) is also determined to locate his brother, his parents will urge him to stay as far away as possible in case the culprits will get the urge to snatch him too. In a promo released by the network, Cookie will try to distract Jamal by teaching him new music. This will push the eldest Lyon child to disregard other's perception of him as a gay artist.

Meanwhile, Hakeem will be facing the toughest challenge of his young life. As it becomes apparent that his kidnappers have no intention for releasing him until they get the money, he will do everything to stay alive. Lucious will perhaps get his wish for his son to finally become a man. After this hurdle, Hakeem will never be the same, as he will always remember this incident in his life.

As for Cookie, she may be willing to forget her tiff with her estranged husband, but it does not mean she is willing to get back with him. The trailer shows that she is busy with her new man, Laz (Adam Rodriguez), the new concert promoter. The two can be seen kissing, as Laz tries to assure her that everything will be fine with her son. Is there really no hope for Lucious and Cookie to reconcile in the near future?

"Empire" episode 6 is scheduled to air on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 9 p.m. EST to give way to the World Series.
