Instead of preparing for Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Grey) and Laura's (Jamila Velazquez) wedding, the Lyons will still deal with a lot of controversies in the final episode of "Empire" season 2.

In the episode titled "Past Is Prologue," the supposedly festive wedding will turn into a big family meeting that Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will organize in order to settle their ongoing disputes. This could be the result of Jamal's (Jussie Smollett) decision to quit his musical career because of the bickering that is happening within the family.

But will the Lyons finally settle their differences, considering the long history of fights within their household?

In episode 16, viewers found out that Lucious' (Terrence Howard) mother Leah Walker (Leslie Uggams) is still alive. The mother and son were reunited. But instead of a heartwarming reunion, Leah threatened her son's life when she almost stabbed him with a cake knife.

Episode 17 will also show an altercation between Lucious and Jamal. Based on the trailer for the episode that will air on Wednesday, May 11, Lucious will strangle his son while in a recording studio. The very furious Lyon patriarch will tell his son, "You are nothing to me but a disappointment."

Is this the final straw that will lead Jamal to stop making music until the family sorts out their differences?

The synopsis for the finale episode of "Empire" season 2 reads:

"After a life-changing experience, Jamal refuses to make music until his family ends its seemingly endless cycle of violence and fighting. Meanwhile, the Feds are tailing Anika because they want to force her to testify against Lucious. In order to protect her family, Cookie organizes a meeting at Hakeem and Laura's wedding with various people from her and Lucious' past."

"Empire" season 2 finale will air on May 18 on Fox.
