'Empire' season 2 spoilers: Cookie has new love interest

"Empire" season 2 airs every Wednesday at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.Facebook/Fox

Fans of FOX's "Empire" are already aware that in season 2, Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) and her sons Andre (Trai Byers) and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) tried to take over Empire Records while patriarch Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) was behind bars.

However, the attempt of a hostile takeover failed and so the brothers decided to form their own record company, Lyon Dynasty.

In the latest episode, which aired last night, fans saw how Cookie and Anika (Grace Gealey) set up a surprise performance that got the attention of Pitbull, without Lucious knowing.

October 7's episode also showed that Andre and wife Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) hoped that their unborn child would be enough to pull at Lucious' heartstrings and make him decide to take his son back to Empire Records.

However, it turned out badly for Andre since Lucious realized his son was using the unborn baby as a leverage, although it wasn't really Andre's intention.

Meanwhile, TV Line has already offered a scoop of what's to come in season 2 of "Empire."

FOX recently released via TV Line photos featuring guest stars whom fans should expect in the coming episode.

The episode in question will be episode 5, which will air on October 21. "CSI: Miami's" Adam Rodriguez will make his first appearance in that installment portraying Laz Delgado, and according to the report, he will play as Cookie's new eye candy.

The exclusive photos showed Laz and Cookie on their first meeting. As described by TV Line, Laz is a concert promoter who knows his words very well and seems to be equipped with "expert hustler skills."

Laz is also said to take an interest in the Empire matriarch, which means that he will be Cookie's new love interest as she already ended things with her husband.

The question now is, will Cookie be able to focus on Laz' abilities to help artists of the newly founded Lyon Dynasty land a gig, or will she be too distracted by his hotness that she will want to have a tour in his bedroom?

Fans will just have to wait for Oct. 21 to see Rodriguez work his charm. Meanwhile, this particular episode will also guest-star Ne-Yo and Jamila Velazquez.
