Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) has not changed her plans to take over Lucious' (Terrence Howard) records company when the Fox's drama series "Empire" returns for its second season.

According to the official synopsis released by Fox, Lucious' ex-wife is still in cahoots with Andre (Trai Byers), Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Anika (Grace Gealey) in finalizing the "hostile takeover" of Empire Entertainment. It is interesting to note, however, that Cookie will stage a star-studded #FreeLucious concert, perhaps in order to lull him into thinking that things are going well between them. Guest stars André Leon Talley, Vogue's editor-at-large, and Rev. Al Sharpton will reportedly show up to lend their support to Lucious.

The premiere episode titled "The Devils Are Here" will pick up three months after the arrest and imprisonment of the Empire Entertainment head. Viewers will see Lucious still locked up in federal prison and trying to come to terms with his predicament.

Lucious is trying to manage Empire from inside, while still serving his sentence. So far, he has managed to maintain a positive outlook amid all the bad luck that has befallen him. In the show's promo, he can even be seen dancing with the other inmates. He will also get a visit from Cookie and that is when he will tell her he wants his family whole again.

Meanwhile, "a headline-grabbing state prosecutor" is determined to bring him down. She is reportedly willing to sacrifice everything, even her political ambitions, just to see Lucious rotting in prison. Looks like Lucious need to more careful in the upcoming installment, as more and more enemies are popping up to ruin him. Will he be able to surpass them all?

The International Business Times reports that the Fox hit series will be showing a half-hour special titled "Empire Season 2: Game On" before season 2 airs on Sept. 23. Executive producers Danny Strong, Lee Daniels and Ilene Chaiken will be giving fans some tidbits on what to expect for the new installment, as well as discuss "ratings success, critical acclaim, impact on the music industry, and social media following."
