Ludacris joins other high profile guests in the second season of Fox's drama series "Empire" which airs late September.

Fashion & Style reports that the rapper will appear alongside other musicians including, Kelly Rowland, Lenny Kravitz, and Alicia Keys in Lee Daniel's hit show. During season 1, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Anthony Hamilton, to name a few, already graced the hip-hop series.

Ludacris has earlier posted a picture with Terrence Howard, who plays Lucious Lyon, wearing a police uniform. Design & Trend reports that from the looks of things, he will play the role of a prison security guard in charge of looking after the former Empire Records president. As for whether he will be a friend or foe, viewers need to check out the new installment to find out.

Meanwhile, Chris Rock will also make a guest appearance on the show. An Instagram snapshot of the award-winning comedian wearing orange prison jumpsuits has stirred speculations that he may be one of Lucious' cell mates in "Empire." 

The first promo released for season 2 contains a lot of clues about what viewers can expect to happen when the hit series returns. Hollywood Life reports that The Lion's predicament cannot go any lower, as he is locked up in prison while ex-wife Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will be seen visiting him. 

His son, Jamal (Jussie Smollett), appears to be performing at a massive crowd and it looked like the show is organized to help release Lucious from imprisonment. The huge sign behind Jamal proclaims a "#freelucious" sign. Does this mean reconciliation is just around the corner? Certainly, the relationship between father and this son has been anything but great.

Viewers will also catch a glimpse of Anika (Grace Gealey) and Hakeem (Bryshere Gray) in the promo, as well as Andre (Trai Byers). The oldest son of the Lyons is seen walking alongside Cookie, presumably on their way to visit Lucious.

"Empire" season 2 is set to premiere on Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
